If your struggling putting together a quality Article Review, check out this template again...

Article Review Template

In order to help with the article review assignment, I have created a format or template to use in structuring your
document.  With the aid of the scoring guide, this template will allow you to piece together a quality summary
of your selected article.

To begin with you should open a word document. This will allow you to copy and paste information and help organization this information into its proper paragraph. Each article review should have a minimum of four paragraphs.  The formats for each paragraph are as follows:

1st Paragraph

In this paragraph you should state which article you are summarizing and the author of the article.
Next, read the summary for the article on the main article page. (The page you are directed to after you click on this weeks articles).  Read this summary and find out the main ideas within the paragraph.  Restate this summary using your own
words to be the body of the 1st paragraph.

2nd and 3rd and maybe 4th paragraph

These paragraphs must address the main ideas of the article.  Read the article and highlight or copy the ideas which “stick out” as important. Narrow down these ideas into two or three main ideas.  After you copy and paste these ideas into a document, create spacing between each of the ideas.  Then, within these spaces look for facts, quotes and/or examples which will help support the ideas.  Once this is completed you should have the structure for each of these paragraphs. Now all you have to do is write a few sentences to connect the main idea to the supporting information and the paragraph is complete!

 Summary Paragraph

In this paragraph you should explain why you chose this article.  Then, give your opinion as to what you feel you learned from this article.  Also, express how the information in the article changed or added to your knowledge about the subject.
Finally, how will this knowledge help with having a better understanding of this subject in the future?

There’s Gas in the Air

Back then, gas was jumping through the roof, and it is a constant reminder of the dangerous environmental impact of fossil fuels. Over the years, people have seen amazing new ways to alternate the ranging from electricity to bio-fuels. However, none came close to the latest invention where they make fuel from air and H2O.
To make this “green gas” a team begins by extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and hydrogen from water. The 2 gases are combined in a reactor. And with the help of catalyst which is then “transformed into usable fuel using a commonly known procedure called the MOBIL methanol-to-gasoline reaction.”
Besides the obvious advantage of the harmful carbons from the atmosphere, this “green” fuel is also better for the ecosystem.
This breakthrough took 2 years and $ 1.6 million pounds to develop this. And in the last 3 months, they had only created 5 liters. However the company believes that making more won’t be difficult.

My summer is about The Real Reason Skies Go Dark after the Sun Sets by Meera Dolasia. Why does the sky go dark at night? Well we are all probably thinking that even a kindergartner can answer that. The simple answer is that the earth rotates around the sun. So when the earth has rotate around the sun the other side of earth is sunny and we are dark. Sounds like that there are about zillions of sparkly star. This was a question that German astronomer Heinrich Olbers pondered over at length all the way back in 1823. Maybe the stars in the sky will make the sky light up a little bit.
After they were thinking about the conundrum at length, the astronomer could only blame the darkness to one thing. Since this according to the experts is estimated to be 13.7 billion years old. While this phenomenon called Olbers’paradox is still considered to be the primary reason for the lack of light. There are ever growing universe is pushing the stars further and further away. There is so much that millions of years from now. Still a little confused? Then be sure to watch this too easy to follow video by 24 year old Harry Reich.

The Incredible Glove That Makes Touch Screen Keyboards so……. Yesterday!
Since Apple Inc. introduced touch screen to the iPhone thing have never been the same. The display screens the respond to the touch of a finger or stylus have become the de facto standard for any respectable personal device. However if Jiake Liu has his way this cool technology may soon be replaced by an even cooler on your hand. Gauntlet (Generally Accessible Universal Nomadic Tactile Low-Power Electronic Typist) is a smart glove that essentially turns you hand into a keyboard. Invented by a team of researchers led by Jiake Liu at the University of Alabama, the glove is fitted with wireless keyboard functionality. When the user types his/her message, a conductive wire transmits it to a small matchbox size control unit that sits on the back of the glove. This in turn uses a Blue Tooth to send the commands to any device ranging from a gaming machine to a computer and even a smartphone.
In order to make it simple to use the team assigned the easiest and most natural hand movements to the most commonly used letters. Alphabet letters that are not so frequently used as well as functions, were assigned slightly more complicated gestures. What's even cooler is that once the user memorizes where the alphabets are situated, they can remove the stickers and really appear like they are sending messages or playing video games by just making normal gestures with their gloved hand. While the smart glove will definitely be a great addition to all our lives, it is expected to be extremely useful for people with disabilities.

I read Presenting - 'Amasia', The Next Supercontinent! By Meera Dolasia on October 18, 2012. Scientists thank that the world will come to 1 large landmass.

Scientists are going to call it Amasia. But the Scientists do not thank Antarctica will be a part of it all.

We are not going to be here when it happens. We will not see the new world at all.

The world and all the animals are going to meet and live together in harmony.

I chose to read the article about a weird object seen in the sky on Tuesday October 16th by Meera Dolasia. It was about a supposed UFO in the Kentucky sky that was caught on tape by Allen Epling. Allen said that it looked like two florescent light bulbs. The only thing stopping people from believing Allen is that of the US Department of Defense, who stated that no such object was in the sky on that particular day.
Allen also stated that the object would get brighter and brighter and then get dim and disappear. This has alien believers buzzing with excitement! They believe that the two florescent looking things were two large lightships, with a spaceship from the Ashtar Galactic Command! Allen was not sure about that but still thought there was something up there.
Allen believes that the object was a man-made object that someone put up there, but who knows. In the video that Allen got of the object it flashes bright and moves around the sky! What on earth could the object be; a plane or a UFO? No one may ever find out.
So in conclusion, if any of you readers are alien believers, you might really enjoy this article. I myself don’t know what I believe it was, but who cares, let it be one more cool mysterious thing about earth!

This article is by Meera Dolasia. The title is “It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s An Alien Spaceship?” This article is about an object that seems to be man-made but, no one on Earth has claimed it. Most jump to the idea that it is an alien spacecraft but, an astronomer Allen Epling thinks not.
“Allen said the mysterious object that resembled a bright daylight star, would intermittently get brighter and visible to the naked eye and then dim down and disappear from view. What intrigued him was that it seemed to be able stay at the high altitude for a long period of time without any apparent propellers or propulsion system.” This paragraph from the article tells about the mysterious object. The object seems to be shiny and is able to stay in the air for a long amount of time. In the paragraph it says that the shininess o the object will dim down and you wont be able to see it anymore but, nobody knows what it is.
“This has the believers in the existence of alien societies buzzing with excitement They think that the two florescent light bulbs were large Lightships and the flying object was an alien spaceship from the Ashtar Galactic Command. Allen is not too sure about that. He still believes it was something man-made - Just not sure what and who sent it there!” This paragraph from the article states that UFO or mysterious object have people thinking that alien societies are real and that the flying object was from the spaceship but astronomer Allen isn’t so sure about that.
I chose this article because it looked interesting. It was about an unknown mysterious object that no one knows what it is. I also chose this article because I wanted to see if they ever found out what the object was but, they didn’t. So, the object remains unknown for now.

Alien space ship
I read the article about the ‘’alien space ship’’. The author of this article is Meera Dolasia. This article was written on October 27, 2012. In this article Meera talks about a mysterious sighting in Kentucky.
Many people reported seeing this sighting, many videos were captured to. The sighting included to florescent light looking items in the sky. They hovered in the air. These items became brighter and dimer. Resembling two florescent lights joined together the UFO was witnessed by many locals and caught on tape by amateur astronomer, Allen Epling.
So what was this strange UFO? Nobody knows! So far everybody from the US Department of Defense to the local airport authorities has denied having anything remotely like this in the skies on that particular day. The investigation is still ongoing but nothing can be proven.

This article was called The Incredible Glove that Makes ‘Touch Screen’ Keyboards So……. Yesterday. It was written by Meera Dolasia. This article is mostly about a new technique for texting, using a glove.
A new way of texting is by using a glove, this is called a Gauntlet. A kid named Jiake Liu, from the University of Alabama was the one to do the research on the Gauntlet. This glove is fitted with wireless keyboards in it. “When the user types his/her message, a conductive wire transmits it to a small matchbox size control unit that sits on the back of the glove.” “This in turn uses a Blue Tooth to send the commands to any device ranging from a gaming machine to a computer and even a smartphone.”
“In order to make it simple to use the team assigned the easiest and most natural hand movements to the most commonly used letters.” This way it isn’t hard to figure out how to use or situate your hand with it. Once the person using it figures out where all of the letters on the glove are at, they can take the stickers off of the glove and it will look like they are sending messages or playing games by just moving the hand with the glove. This new idea will be a big hit.
I chose this article because it looked interesting. In this article I learned that you can use your hand to text or play games without touching the actual phone. Knowing this information will help me in the future, because I might know someone who needs something like this, and then I could tell them about it.

I read the article called it’s a Bird, it’s a Plane, it’s an Alien Spaceship? It was written by Meera Dolasia. It is about a supposed UFO sighting.
It says there is a supposed space ship sighting over eastern Kentucky that was caught on tape and not claimed by anyone on Earth. It resembles two fluorescent lights joined together. Many locals witnessed the UFO and it was caught on tape by Allen Epling.
Nobody has claimed the strange UFO yet. Some people believe that aliens sent the spaceship. While some people believe that it is man-made but don’t know who’s it is.
That article was very interesting. Nobody knows if it is from space or man-made.

I chose this article because all the others looked a little boring. I didn’t really learn much from it but that no one knows what the UFO is. I didn’t know that it would be hard for a spacecraft to fly without propellers. This knowledge will help me in the future by knowing what it looked like if I ever see it.

Felix Baumgartner Breaks the Sound Barrier
I am summarizing the story, ‘Fearless Felix’ Breaks the Sound Barrier! The author of this news story is Meera Dolasia. The main idea is Felix Baumgartner broke the sound barrier, and the record, for jumping from space, at an altitude of 128,000 feet above the ground.
Felix rode to the edge of space and jumped out of his capsule on Sunday, October 14. He rode in a capsule attached to a helium balloon, to the edge of space. Once he reached his set height, he said in his microphone, “I am coming home!” He jumped from the capsule and free fell for 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
Felix started talking about how his exit was good, but hard to control his body, because he falling really fast. He had to find a way to steady himself or he would’ve gone unconscious, which could have resulted in death. He found a way and came back safely. Felix didn’t know it at the time, but he broke the sound barrier during his fall.
I chose this article because it looked very interesting that a person can jump from the edge of space, not be hurt, and break the sound barrier. I learned that at a certain point while going through the atmosphere, the pressure can get so low; your blood can boil, if not protected correctly. This will help me, and other people to know more about space.

What Is That?!?!
I am summarizing an article about something that was in the sky that made people wonder what it was. This article was written by Meera Dolasia. This article was posted on October 27, 2012. (Over many years, people have or think they have spotted UFOs flying across the sky.) The most recent sighting was over the skies of Eastern Kentucky.
It looked like two florescent lights joined together and was witnessed by many locals and was caught on tape by Allen Spring (an amateur astronomer.) A resident at Kentucky said that his wife and he had some friends on the afternoon of (Tuesday October 16th. The granddaughter of one of the guests noticed something she thought was a cool-looking airplane.) Allen Spring said the strange object was resembled a bright daylight star. (The object would get brighter and visible to the eye and then dim down and disappear from view.)
People from this sighting and past sightings have no idea what it really was. (Everybody from the US Department of Defense to the local airport authorities has denied having anything remotely like this in the skies on that day.) Sightings like this make people believe in existence of alien societies. It would be helpful to know what sightings like this really are. Is it an alien, spaceship, or airplane? No one knows.

The Incredible Glove!
My article review this week is from the passage “The Incredible Glove That Makes 'Touch Screen’ Keyboards so . . . . . . . Yesterday!”. This passage was written by Meera Dolasia on October 28, 2012. If you haven’t already guessed this is a passage about a new high tech glove. This new glove was invented by Jiake Liu, and just might be cooler than a touch screen!

The new glove is called a Gauntlet and is this super cool glove that turns your hand into the keyboard! There are stickers on the glove to tell you where each letter is located, but they are removable if you can learn where every letter is at. The letters on the gloves are placed in very strategic ways, for example the letters that people most commonly use are going to be where you can reach them better. The less used letters are placed in more difficult places .

The glove was invented by a group of researchers , led by Jiake at the University of Alabama. The glove uses Bluetooth to send commands to a variety of devices. You can use the glove on the many things, like gaming systems, computers, smart phones , and much more! This glove was made to make texting or playing games much easier. It is also expected to be very helpful to the disabled.

Jiake says he loves science fiction movies, so it isn’t a surprise that he got the idea from the movie Minority Report. All Jiake is waiting for right now is a patent for this amazing new device. He also needs a partner to help them bring to stores near you. If I was you I would keep my eyes open for this glove, because it is super cool!

Amasia!
I read the article, “Presenting- ‘Amasia’, The Next Supercontinent!” It is by Meera Dolasia. This article is about how in the next hundreds of millions of years, all of the continents are supposed to fuse together, again. It has been theorized that the movement and fusion of the tectonic plates has happened many times in the past and will happen many times in the extremely far future.
The last fusion of the tectonic plates was Pangaea, and that happened around 150-300 million years ago. But it was not the only one, Nuna (1.8 billion years ago) and Rodina (1 billion years ago). These are the only supercontinents that scientists were able to find evidence of, for it is very rare to find a 2 billion year old rock containing evidence of ancient magnetic fields.
Scientists do agree that the supercontinents did exist, but there is very little consensus on what the continents were comprised of. Some say that they are the same ones, but others believe it’s different every time. A new theory has been born. That each supercontinent came together about 90° from its predecessor. These calculations were done using the paleolatitude, and for the first time, the paloelongitude.
I have learned that there were other supercontinents before Pangaea and that they happen over and over again. It has changed my mind by helping me believe that we are advanced enough to at least theorize about these things. I had fun reading and it was a real learning experience.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s an alien spaceship?
I am doing the article review over “It’s a bird, it’s a plane, and it’s an alien spaceship?” Many people have suspected alien spaceships because it’s just a wild guess. The astronomer, Allen Epling, believes that it’s something man-made. The “object” looks like two light bulbs tied together. What makes Allen wonder is how something like that could be man-made?
Some more facts about this “object” is that it would get lighter and visible. Then it would dim down and disappear from view. Something that really shocked Allen was that it stayed in the air as long as it did. He thinks that it must have a high altitude. Only because it didn’t have any propellers or anything like that.
If I had to take a guess at what this object might be I would have no idea. It obviously isn’t a bird or a plane. I don’t think that it would be an alien spaceship either. So I have no idea. Hopefully it’s not an alien spaceship. It would be scary!

Breaking the Sound Barrier
On Sunday, October 14th Felix Baumgartner broke the sound barrier by completing his daring jump. He jumped all the way from space to the earth’s surface and then just got up and walked over to his cheering fans. He went up in a one man hot air balloon that took off from New Mexico.
His first hurtle was that his visor started to fog up and he needed full visibility to make the jump. Luckily the fog on his visor went away and he was able to make the jump. The next problem was the fact that he had do stabilize himself as he fell down. He later said that the stabilizing himself was the hardest and most scary part of the jump.
Felix managed to break the sound barrier and three world records in jump. He broke the record for the first man to free fall through the sound barrier, the highest manned flight, and the man to jump from the highest altitude. One record he didn’t manage to break was the longest free fall, which his mentor Joe Kittinger currently holds. In conclusion, this accomplishment is one of the greatest any man has ever made and will always be remembered by everybody.

The Incredible Glove That Makes 'Touch Screen' Keyboards So . . . . . . . Yesterday!

This article is about a new technology that makes texting even more high-tech! I chose this article because I like to be on my phone frequently and this new glove is very cool!! This article involves facts about the new texting glove that you can use instead of using your ‘touch screen’ to text with.
One of the many main ideas of this article is to help disabled people be able to text much, much easier. The glove can help them by the people memorizing the letters on their own hand rather than on the touch screen of their cell phone.
Another main idea of this glove is that the creator made it in inspiration of Tom Cruz. The maker, or one of the makers, was very interested by the idea that Tom Cruz gave him and his team of creators. They got the idea from one of many science fiction movies by Tom Cruz.
The glove will definitely be a great addition to all our lives and many people might find it very interesting. Some people call it a “smart glove” because it seems smarter than some phones may! What's even cooler is that once the user memorizes where the alphabets are situated, they can remove the stickers and really appear like they are sending messages or playing video games by just making normal gestures with their gloved hand!
I chose this article because I find the fact of a glove that you can text with as an interesting thing to read about. I am also interested at how much technology we are gaining due to our world’s brilliant scientists… who knows what they will come up with next!!! :)

Jiake the maker got the idea from a movie. He got the approval to make this device. Then it headed straight to the stores.
As you can see this was a big hit. Everyone who used it loved it. Maybe someday it will show up in a store near you.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane’ It’s an Alien Spaceship

Over the years many people have seen “UFO’s” in the air. Once somebody sees one they immediately jump to the conclusion that whatever they saw is in fact a UFO. All the sightings have been ruled out extra-terrestrial and in fact man-made. However something over the skies in eastern Kentucky has not been claimed by anybody on Earth.
Tuesday October 16 Allen Epling was hosting a party when the granddaughter of a guest saw what she called “a cool looking airplane”. The “UFO” resembles two fluorescent lights soaring beside each other. Allen himself said that it looked like a bright daylight star. He said that it would get brighter and brighter and then dim down and eventually disappear.
What intrigued Allen was that it seemed to stay at a high altitude without any apparent propellers or propulsion systems. The U.S. Department of Defense have called many airports and all have denied having anything like this in the skies on that day. This has believers of aliens buzzing with excitement. Some believe the bulbs were lightships.
I don’t think that what was seen was indeed alien spacecraft. Out of all the UFO sightings all have been proven manmade. I think this one will be proven manmade also.

I think it is pretty cool that people figured out how to make gas with the air and water. And I would like to learn more about it.
With gas prices going up all the time and the constant reminder of the harmful environmental impact of fossil fuels, the quest to find another source of fuel has heated up considerably. This latest investigation has shown you can make fuel from air and water!
In order to manufacture this “magical” gasoline, the team begins by extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and hydrogen from water. The two gases are then combined in a reactor. Then, with the help of a catalyst (a substance that causes or accelerates a chemical reaction without itself being affected), the hydrocarbon mixture is converted into methanol, which is then transformed into usable fuel using a commonly known procedure called the MOBIL methanol-to-gasoline reaction.
Aside from the obvious advantage of using up harmful carbon dioxide, this synthetic fuel is also better for the environment, it does not create the harmful byproducts that result when fossil fuels are burnt. The engineers have only been able to produce about 5 liters of synthetic gasoline. They are planning that by 2015 they will have produced a larger scale. However the gas will not be sold at stations but be reserved for race cars and other vehicles that require special fuel.

The competition for the world’s smallest dog heats up!! Lots of dogs are more than tiny enough to be the smallest dog in the world. There are some pretty small dogs out there, but the second smallest or 3rd smallest doesn’t matter it is all about being the smallest.
Beyoncé, Born in March 2012, the female Dachshund mix that weighed an ounce was born was so small that she could fit on a spoon. The owners had to bottle feed her, cause her stomache was so small, every hour.( even at night!!!) the officials would not agree she was the smallest because she was not a year old yet.
Milly, a Chihuahua, is older than Beyoncé by only a few months. Bottle fed was small, milly had to be fed with an EYEDROPPER! She was three months old and had only grow THREE inches.
In July, as crazy as it sounds, an even smaller pooch was born. The puppy only weighed 1.58 ounces! if an eye dropper sounded small then the SHRINGE was even smaller. The owner had to feed her every half hr.!!
Those dogs were really tiny, but because they were not yet a yr. old yet the current title holder goes to (drumroll please) … Boo Boo. She is 6 yrs. old, 4 inches tall, and weighs 1.5 lbs. the others may seem smaller, but they are still pups.
so yeah there's my article... till next time...
