I chose this article because I like diamonds.
Earlier this week, Russian officials revealed to the world a secret that has been known to them for twenty years - A diamond supply that they claim is vast enough to fulfill global demand for at least, the next 3,000 years.
Discovered in the 1970's the diamond field is located inside Popigai Astroblem, a 62-mile diameter crater believed to have been created by an asteroid, 35 million years ago. The officials say that when they first discovered the trillions of carats, they did not to explore it, because they were then a member of the Soviet Union (USSR), which already had immensely profitable diamond mines and were also manufacturing synthetic diamonds. Now that Russia is an independent nation they decided it was time to begin mining and also, let the world into their shiny secret.
Unfortunately though, these are not the kind of diamonds that can be turned into swanky jewelry, but ones that are used in manufacturing. Known as impact diamonds they are the hardest known substance to man, formed when a space rock hits a graphite deposit at very high velocity. According to the Russian experts, the Popigai diamonds are extra hard because of the enormous pressure and high temperature caused when the asteroid landed in the area, millions of years ago.
In addition to that they also feature strong abrasive properties and a large grain size - all highly coveted qualities since these diamonds are largely used inside cutting and grinding tools like commercial drill bits and saws. Other uses include specialized high pressure laboratory experiments, high performance bearings and sometimes even specialized windows
For those of you too young to remember, the Soviet Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) is a former country that comprised of the modern day Russia, and a number of nearby states like Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. It was founded in 1917, following the Russian Revolution that was staged by the peasantry who were tired of the corrupt monarchs. In an attempt to make life pleasant for all, they adopted the principals of communism. First promoted by philosopher Karl Marx it believes that all society should be classless and stateless - so that everybody is equal - socially and financially
Though this worked for a number of years, by the 1980's the people of Soviet Union and other communist countries started to yearn for more economic prosperity. Much like the current ongoing revolutions in some of the African and Middle Eastern countries, the ripple of events which started in Poland spread to other communist countries. In 1991, the Soviet Union was dissolved into 14 countries, the largest of which, is the Russian Federation.

Number Babies

Some people have problems trying to tell apart twins. Well, the parents of quadruplets had a solution for telling their kids since they all look alike and have the same mannerism. The parents shaved a number on each of their children heads ( 1,2,3,4 ).
The parents had to do this since teachers had problem telling them apart. That when the parents took action.
The parents took the quadruplets to a barber and have him shaved numbers on their head.
Everyone seems to be happy now, since it’s easier to tell apart the quadruplets by their respective numbers on their head.

I read Alaskan teen survives26-hours floating inside a fish crate by staying positive and singing By Meera Dolasia. They were going fishing and the boat over trend.

They when out fishing and the boat was having some mechanical issues. They managed to fix the problem. Then they hit rough seas and the boat over trend.

The boy was able to get into a fishing crate and floated away and the man swam to the shore and got the coast guard and the boy was saved by the coast guard after 26-hours floating at sea.

So the lean is when you go out to sea to a bigger boat than 28 feet long.

This week on the article review I read the about 2013’s new Guinness Book of Records by Meera Dolasia. It tells about next year’s insane records made by everyday people. This book comes out on September 13th 2013, and has some crazy new records………
Including a giant boot, a giant dog, a real life Popeye, and a huge mohawk. His biceps are 25.5 inches tall when flexed. This Egyptian born man is a real life Popeye, but doesn’t just eat spinach! A man from the Netherlands created the heaviest bike in the world. It ways an outstanding 1650lbs and is still able to ride.
Denise Doorlag lives in Michigan with her 44 inch tall Great Dane Zeus. He is not just the largest dog in the world but the same size as a pony! Then Japanese designer Kazuhiro Watanabe has the world’s tallest mohawk. Measuring 3-foot, 8.6 inches tall, which is 13.11 inches taller than the last record.
So you now can probably see why I chose this crazy article. It is full of exciting and interesting things. I mean how many people have a 3 –foot tall mohawk? I strongly recommend this article for any ages.

Alaskan Teen survives 26-Hours Floating Inside A Fish Crate
What began as a normal day of fishing for 19-year-old Ryan Harris and 40-year-old Stonie 'Mac' Huffman, ended up as what can only be described an adventure, neither will ever forget and, it's not because of the size of the catch either! This passage was written by Meera Dolasia
On September 7th Ryan Harris and Stonie Huffman set off in their aluminum boat, to find some Coho Salmon. When they were a little ways out the boat began to have some problems. When they fixed the problem they decided it would be good to head to shore. Before they reached the shore the water became choppy. Before any of them had a chance, an eight foot wave crashed against the boat. Neither one of them had life jackets on. The wave tipped over the boat and threw the two men out of the boat.
Without a boat, they started scanning the area to see if there was anything they could find. They found some empty fishing crates from their boat, Stonie could only manage to grab a lid. Soon the two began to drift apart. The waves started up again , Ryan was bobbing up and down in the crate, and Stonie was beginning to be carried away by the waves. Then Stonie saw some lifejackets that had come from the tipped over boat. Stonie grabbed a life jacket and decided to swim to shore.
Stonie swam to a deserted patch of land were he had to wait for rescures to find him. While Stonie was waiting on a island, Ryan was still in the fishing crate. Ryan stayed positive by singing songs like “row row row your boat”. After 26 hours Ryan was found , and was in perfect health.

This article is called 'Master The Force' To Exlpode Watermelons by Meera Dolasia.! they use an air compressor to pump the air into the water melon. Air builds up in a watermelon that makes it explode.

Based on technology that has been used for years the player puts on a wireless headset. The headset is programmed to read brain activity and focuses on the ball. it activates a training remote at the bottom of the tube that helps the ball rise.

The watermelon is linked to an air compressor that is monitored by an Arduino-based electronic device. when the air compressor activated the compressor, which released a burst of air, powerful enough to shred the watermelon to pieces.

The 'Mind over Melon' project was demonstrated at an art and science festival held in Clermont, Kentucky on August 25th where some lucky people got to test their concentration levels. The two have no plans to turn their invention into a commercial toy. Craig is just happy to have achieved his lifelong dream of being able to explode an object, using his mind!

My summarizing is about the World's Largest Hand-Drawn Maze Needs Some Solvers by Meera Dolasia. If you are one of those kids that like solving puzzles or finding your way through maze. Pittsburgh artist Joe Woos is looking for you because while he is almost done sketching what is most likely the world's largest hand-drawn maze. He cannot get into the record books until he finds someone willing to put in the 30-40 hours it will take to solve it. That is, if it is solvable at all, something the artist is only 99% certain about.
Joe is a cartoonist at ToonSeum in downtown Pittsburgh. He says that a child his doodles spread over a large pieces of paper in his often turned to a mazes. He said that the paper is going on the wall. Therefore when he recently decided that one of his life-long goals was to get into the Guinness World Records, it was the one thing he knew he could do well. He was even more encouraged when he realized that while there were six maze records in the book, none of them were for hand-drawn ones. So, he contacted the folks at the company to see if they would consider his idea.
The maze took up to 60 hours to draw the maze and it will take you 24 hours to finish the maze. The maze is 35 feet long. While they agreed, they had a few conditions - The maze would have to be completely drawn by hand and at least 10 square meters (107 Square Feet). By least five people at regular intervals. And last but not least, the maze puzzle had to be solved by somebody. Not envisioning any problems with the conditions, Joe began drawing his masterpiece on July 27th.
Instead of using a pencil so that he could erase mistakes, he decided to challenge himself, by using a thin black sharpie and being creative with the mistakes by adding fun illustrations. Along the way, he also decided he wanted to take his giant maze on an international tour to showcase it to children and adults all over the world. So, he started to seek out sponsors. In return for the money, he incorporated their company logo or icon into his masterpiece. The 42-year Old’s rejections began at home when all three of his kids declined to even give the maze a try. His plea on Facebook yielded a similar response.
The result an intricate giant puzzle that embodies his fund-raising efforts, moods, hunger and mistakes flawlessly. Among the 100 illustrations is the famous Starkist Tuna fish ($500), some fun cartoons (just because), pancakes and steak (he was hungry) a packed car (he was impatient and wanted to leave) and a factory with an 'out of order' sign (covering up a mistake).

I read the Master the Force to Explode Watermelons. It was written by Meera Dolasia on September 9, 2012. It talked about an invention that read brain waves. It’s a very complicated device.
The device was developed by people named Brad and Chris (no last names). They are members of the Kentucky-based hackerspace LVL1. They live in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s made-up of a wireless headset and a 10-inch tall clear plastic tower.
The headset is programmed to read brain activity. It is made to where signals reach an acceptable level a compressor releases a burst of air which blows the watermelon to pieces.
The idea was very interesting to see. You have to be really smart to think of something like that. This was really cool.

Pop!
I chose the article Popinater ‘Pops’ Popcorn Right into Your Mouth! It launches popcorn kernels one at a time, but you still have to slightly move to catch it. The ‘Popinater’ was created by Popcorn Indiana. This article is by Meera Dolasia.
You pour your choice of popcorn in the machine, and every time you say ‘pop’ it open a flap from over the launcher. It launches the kernel from where it heard the sound and shoots the kernel. Since each kernel is different you still have to move around to catch it.
The reviews for this article have been very positive, but the Popinater isn’t available to the public yet. If they keep getting good reviews they might eventually release it to the public. Trying to throw the kernel in your mouth yourself can be messy, so this idea is a new interesting, fun way to eat popcorn.
I chose this article because a device that throws popcorn in your mouth is amazing. This might help me in the future to know how to have an accurate aim. This could also inspire me to help invent something as useful as the Popinater. I learned that the some people in the world have very big imaginations.

My articles title is” What to Expect In the 2013 Edition of The Guinness Book of Records”. It is by Meera Dolasia. The Guinness Book of World Records was out September 13. It has funny, interesting, and the most amazing things you could ever see for this edition. It includes the worlds tallest dog, the biggest shoe, and the tallest Mohawk. It will not disappoint you at all.
The worlds tallest dog is owned by a lady named Denise Doorlag who lives in Michigan. Her dogs name is Zeus and he is a great dane. He is 7 foot and 4 inches when he is standing on his back legs. But on the ground he is 44 inches tall! I have never heard of a dog this tall before.” Now, she and her family will be able to proudly respond that he is not just any dog, but, the world's tallest one!” That was a sentence from the article.
The worlds tallest Mohawk is on the head of japenese desighner Kazuhiro Watanabe. This man uses three cans of hairspray and one big large bottle of hair gel to keep his Mohawk up and in the air for a length of 3 feet and 8.6 inches. “The Japanese man said that his other idea was to break the record for drinking the world's most Tabasco sauce.” That was another sentence from the article and he probably chose the safer one which would be the Mohawk. There are many more outrageous records broken in the new book.
I chose this article because it looked really interesting. And it turned out it was. I learned that anything is possible if you really want it to happen from the Mohawk guy. But from the great dane I learned that I don’t know that a dog or I guess any animal can be big. But he is a great dane so they are supposed to be big but not quite that big. In the future this could help me want to break a record but I probably wont do that because I have no interest in breaking a record but oh well.

This article is called “Popinator Pops popcorn right into your mouth!” It was written by Meera Dolasia. This article is mostly about a new machine called the popinator. It shoots popcorn into your mouth so that you can eat popcorn and have fun. This new machine also has a microphone in it, so that you can tell it what to do.
“You will notice that instead of a built-in popping device, it features a microphone system and launcher.” All the users have to do is say the word “Pop” and a piece of popcorn shoots out of the machine. “On hearing that magic word, the binaural microphone system will detect the direction the sound came from, flip open the small opening and launch a piece of popcorn right into the person's mouth.” Now you don’t have to get your hands all gross and buttery. “They are not sure if it will ever be available to the general public - Unless of course the amazingly positive reviews they have been getting so far, continue.”
This machine is going to be a big hit when it comes out. But it will probably be kind of expensive. This voice activated popcorn launcher was designed so that it will change the way people consume the world’s most popular snack.
I chose this article, because it looked interesting. I didn’t know there would ever be such thing as a machine to shoot popcorn into your mouth. It showed me that there is now such thing as a voice activated popcorn machine. I will help me in the future, so if I wanted a neat popcorn machine I would know of this one.

Levitating Water!!!!!!!
I read the article, “Levitate Water Harry Potter Style-No Wand Or Spell Needed!” by Meers Dolasia. Scientists are now testing a way to levitate water! It is really cool since they’ve been working on an invisibility cloak also. A team of researchers led by Chris Benmore at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois, has been working on this idea.
The water droplets are levitated by using an acoustic levitator. The device itself was developed by NASA to fake microgravity. It is made of two small speakers that are on top of each other. They generate soundwaves at 22 kilohertz, which is slightly above what humans can hear.
The frequencies have to be set just right to create soundwaves that perfectly interfere with each other to produce a standing wave. The pressure caused by the waves cancels the effects of gravity, allowing very light objects, such as water, to levitate.
This can be used for medicine divided in two categories, amorphous and crystalline. This levitation thing can be used to achieve the amorphous medicine which is easier for the body to absorb and can be taken in smaller doses and is healthier for your body. The only way it can be made is by levitation in the medicine bottle.
It changed my opinion by I didn’t actually believe that it was possible in a sense. I now know that stuff like this is completely practical and believable.

Humans believe that they are at the top of the food chain because they can outsmart any living being on this planet - While that may be true to some extent, animals, especially chimpanzees that share 99% of our DNA, are no dummies either.

In the video filmed by National Geographic, see how quickly and efficiently the chimp figures out how to get to a peanut that lies at the bottom of a fixed clear tube. But before you watch it, see if you can figure out the solution and prove to yourself and the world that you are . . . . . . Smarter than a chimp!

I chose A Cockroach You May Actually Be Grateful To See by Meera Dolasia. In this article they want to build an electronic robot using off te shelves electronics that squeeze through the tiniest spaces. And it can think for itself.
They used a a hissing coackroach and performed a simple surgery on them. "They began by anesthetizing them, which in the insects case meant placing them in a fridge for a few hours. The cold makes them hibernate and therefore, immobile. Then with the help of some medical-grade epoxy glue they stuck tiny magnets to their backs onto which they strapped on a 'backpack' that contained a wireless receiver and transmitter."
This article was very interesting because something so disgusting can be so helpful ... in a way. This robot they are experimenting with can definatly help later on in the future if there's ever a accident with falling bulidings and they'll need something to get through the tiny spaces with.

Popinator 'Pops' Popcorn Right Into Your Mouth!
Most kids throw popcorn in the air to catch it in the air. Now you don’t have to use your hands. All you have to do is just sit back and get ready to catch the popcorn. The Popinator looks like a normal popcorn machine. It looks very fun. I hope maybe someday I can get the chance to buy the Popinator!!

I’m doing my article review over “Alaskan Teen Survives 26-Hours Floating Inside A Fish Crate By Staying Positive and Singing!” This teenager and an older man went fishing. They had some mechanical issues with their boat; however they managed to fix the boat.
After they fixed the boat the water turned choppy and their boat overturned leaving both men in the cold Alaskan waters. One made a makeshift boat; the other only grabbed a lid.
One of the men as rescued 24 hours after the boat overturned. The other was rescued 26 hours after the boat overturned.
So basically two men overturned a boat and survived.

Popinator
If you are like most kids, most kids like to toss popcorn into their mouths. If you are like me I have terrible aim whenever I try to do that. The popinator has excellent aim. This product was made by the makers of Popcorn Indiana. It is also voice activated to know when you want to have popcorn aimed at your mouth. When you say the word binaural it activates.
The popcorn will not always fall right into your mouth. It will though be close enough. If it doesn’t end up in your mouth your going to have to do some adjusting. But only because every popcorn is a different size and weight.
The snack company says that this product is just something that the employees are having fun with and wont last very long. But if it gets very popular reviews then maybe it might. I guess we will just have to find out.

Why is china Yangtze River turning crimson??
I think that it is weird that the river is turning a red color. I would like to know why the river is turning red, what is causing the river to turn red. Is it drinkable still? And how long it’s going to stay red.
It was written by Meera Dolasia on September 10, 2012. The river has been red since September 6, 2012. And no one is sure why either. At first they thought it might have been the algae that causes red tides. But the experts say that it is not possible given that the organism can’t survive in fresh water. Chongqing’s environmental officials are saying that its red sand that washed up on shore but some people are not convinced and think it’s a result of extreme pollution.
Some of the residents of the area are keeping away, while others are treading in carefully to collect a sample of this unusual thing that has happened. And then there are those farmers that are still going about their own business like nothing extraordinary has happened. There are some people who are helping try to find out what happened and why it happened.
The river is fine and everything just for some weird reason it turned a red tomato color. And the people of china still have no idea why or what caused it. The people in china though are still living their daily lives and everything. And I still think that it’s pretty cool that it turned red.

Fully Preserved Woolly Mammoth Gives Scientists New Hope in Resurrecting the Mighty Animal

This perfectly preserved mammoth was found in Eastern Russia and is giving scientists new hope. Before now scientists have been unable to clone a mammoth because they lacked a living cell from one of the mighty beasts. Never before now has one been found this well preserved and scientists think they might be able to pull it off this time.
The process for the cloning isn't all that complicated, it involves using a living cell from a mammoth and getting it to grow into a mature mammoth. Some experts, however, are doubtful about the chances of success. If the cloning is successful scientists don't know how they might breed more mammoths.
Hopefully the scientists will be able to resurrecting the great animal and bring a whole race back to life. The process will take along time and scientists probably won't have any results before sometime next year. In conclusion, even the chance that this animal might be brought back to life is a huge step forward in the world of science.

Guinness Book Of Records 2013 Edition

I am summarizing an article about what to expect in the Guinness Book Of Records for 2013. This article was published by Meera Dolasia. (The latest version of the book has the worlds most amazing, funny, and outrageous collection of achievements.) There are records for people, pets, hair, and ect. I will be listing some of the records you will see in the book.

One record is for the tallest dog in the world. The dog that has that record is Zeus. Denise Doorlag is the owner of the dog. (Zeus is a Great Dane that measures 44 inches from foot to shoulder and a whooping 7-foot 4 inches when standing on hind legs.) (Zeus is three years old and is one inch taller than last years record holder.)

Another record I found interesting was the world’s heaviest rideable bike. (The bike was built by Wouter van den Bosch.) The bike weighs 1,650 pounds! (The front tire is a tire off of a tractor.) In 2013’s edition, you can find some of the most strange and interesting records ever broken.

Levitate Water Harry Potter Style
This was about water levitating. It was cool. They used sound waves to pick the water up. They waves carry it. But if it touches a solid, it evaporates. That was the coolest part. I liked this article.
